Planting seeds of development is behind Dave Lasser’s passion for real estate.

“It’s very rewarding for me to look back and see how parcels of land that I have brokered have transformed into businesses, which have provided employment to so many. Years later, the company expands, and it all started with an initial meeting and purchase of the land,” he said. “This occurs from local homegrown businesses to companies from all around the world.”

Family-built Commercial In-Sites focuses on the sales and leasing of commercial, industrial and investment real estate with licenses in both Indiana and Illinois, concentrating in Northwest Indiana. The company was launched in 1985 by Dave’s mother, Jo Lasser, as an extension of his father, Herbert Lasser’s law firm. He joined the business in 1988 and took over ownership in 2003. The company has grown to 10 employees today.

“We have more than 35 years of experience and that helps us get referrals from all over the country,” he said. “In this field, we deal with so many types of professions every day – from attorneys and accountants to engineers and bankers – behind the scenes to get everything done whether it’s a simple lease or a complex transaction. These interactions are what have driven me to be good at what I do and obtain my professional development designations.”

Dave holds the highest continuing education professional designations offered in the commercial real estate industry. He holds a Certified Commercial Investment Member designation as well as the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors Dual Office and Industrial specialist designation.

“I am the only real estate broker in the state of Indiana to hold all three of these designations. These are the highest continuing education designations specific to the field of commercial real estate. It’s a very small club,” he said.

Over the years, the team has had a hand in more than 2,200 sales and leases while staying connected to the community through service.

Among the roles Dave has taken on include being a founding board member and past Chairman of the Lake County Economic Alliance, a founding board member of the Porter County Economic Development Alliance and he is the current Chairman of the Board of the Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce.

After all these years, it’s the variety that keeps Dave motivated and driven.

“Every day is different. Every meeting and phone call is about different people with different needs,” he said. “A typical day can involve one call from a large manufacturer purchasing an existing building discussing environmental concerns to the next call being someone opening a hair salon or an accountant seeking office space.

“This is how it works all day every day and I never get bored.”
