Marketing innovator challenges status quo, nurtures students' technology skill sets
Artificial intelligence is taking data analytics to the next level at Seth Spencer’s digital marketing agency.
“AI analyzes data thousands of times faster than we ever could. It discovers correlations between customers and behaviors to help our clients advertise in the most efficient way,” he said. “We have already begun to implement and test these technologies in our services and strongly believe it will create an unprecedented impact on the region’s businesses.”
Spencer and his SERA Solutions team are incorporating new technologies into their offerings, which include Website development, online marketing and data analytic services.
“We strive to learn the newest and most effective approaches to online marketing and apply it to the services we offer,” he said. “By doing so, we possess the ability to create the highest quality Websites and online marketing campaigns offered by any agency across the region.”
At 21, Spencer already brings his own entrepreneurial experience to his business. He launched a competitive gaming tournament Website at the age of 14 and started SERA Solutions in 2014 while attending Purdue University Northwest as a management major.
“I have always challenged the status quo and questioned why things operate as they do. That’s something that comes natural with being young,” he said. “I followed my passion for technology because there are times when owning a business is not easy and giving up crosses the mind, but the passion and vision have motivated me during those times.”
Spencer is also serving as a mentor by seeking to plant the tech seed and cultivate a new generation of entrepreneurs.
“I first started by volunteering through Junior Achievement. I worked with third-grade students about ideas for a business and I was really surprised every single student had some idea of what they wanted to create,” he said. “It has been a humbling experience to personally work with and watch the growth of our community’s students.”
Spencer can be found at Crichfield Elementary School in LaPorte at least once a week sharing his STEM knowledge in Marty Briggs’ classroom.
“I have done a wide variety of things from one-on-one tutoring with students struggling with math to working with more advanced kids on STEM projects,” he said. “We have created phone apps and software and had an after-school robotics club.”
Spencer sees his entrepreneurial and mentoring paths as entwined.
“Being an entrepreneur is not always easy, and often requires more time than most see, but the time given to being an entrepreneur is truly a gratifying experience in the long-term,” he said. “I enjoy helping others and being an entrepreneur has allowed me to offer assistance to those in need who otherwise would not have had the opportunity.
“Being able to create a positive future for myself and those around me is perhaps the greatest pleasure of being an entrepreneur.”
